My name is Nathalie, and I am an Outreach Counsellor for Safe Space.
On Mondays, I am based at the Kelty Community Centre and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, I work from Cowdenbeath, at the Maxwell Centre. The multi-use community centres enable privacy, are very easy to access by public transport and are also welcoming.
You will not need to sign in on arrival, you can wait at reception, and I will welcome you at our agreed time.
We will be in the same room, on the same day and time each week for our sessions together.
In the counselling room, we have available: drawing material, sand tray, diverse objects that can be used to explore your emotions and your personal story, alongside talking therapy. We can also use mindfulness and breathing techniques for grounding and somatic practices for nurturing the body and mind connection.
You will always have a choice and everything can be discussed with your counsellor.
If you would like to have your appointments in Cowdenbeath or Kelty please let us know when you make your referral to the service. If you are needing appointments in one of our outreach locations, please note that there may be a longer waiting time for regular appointments compared to our Dunfermline service.
I’m Lou, an Outreach Counsellor for Safe Space, offering support on Tuesdays at Lochgelly Centre.
Lochgelly Centre is a welcoming space with a library, theatre, cafe, sports hall and various art and craft facilities.
Counselling appointments take place weekly at the same day and time. When you arrive, simply wait at reception. I will come to meet you, so there is no need to check in.
The counselling room is a comfortable space with chairs, cushions and blankets. There are also a variety of materials available to support your process in a way that suits you.
As a pluralistic counsellor, I tailor sessions to your individual needs and preferences. Sometimes words don’t feel like the right way to express what’s inside and that’s okay. We can explore different methods such as Sandtray, drawing, objects or images to symbolise meaning and connect with different parts of yourself. I’m happy to support you in finding a way that works best for you.
My name is Susanne, and I am an Outreach Counsellor for Safe Space.
On Thursdays, I am based at Lochgelly Community Centre. I offer one to one, face to face counselling in one of the small meeting rooms within the Community Centre. The room is very private and provides a calm, comfortable and safe environment to explore what has brought you to counselling.
In addition, the Community Centre has a lovely cafe and a library that can be used by members of the public and visitors to the centre should you wish to do so.
There is parking directly outside the community centre, and it is also very easy to reach by public transport.
On arrival I will be seated in the reception area, waiting to greet you and there is no requirement for you to sign in. I understand the first few counselling appointments can be an anxiety provoking experience, so I will be wearing a Safe Space lanyard to enable you identify me very easily on arrival.
As a pluralistically trained counsellor, I believe that ‘one size does not fit all’ and that we all need different things at different times in our life. My aim is to ensure that your therapy sessions will help you to feel at ease with a counsellor who will not judge you or make comparisons with others they know; and who can empathically view your life through your lens, at your own pace.
At Safe Space, in addition to talking therapy, we also trained in several therapeutic interventions that have been developed to help you explore and make sense of your feelings and emotions. These include breathing and grounding techniques, body work, using a sand tray, therapy using art and understanding the many parts of our personalities.
The solid foundation of our client relationships are built on trust, collaboration, and equality. Our approach is to ensure that clients can customise their therapy, based on their needs, and choose the areas in life that they want to work on. Throughout the therapy process we will provide you with guidance, encouragement, and support to achieve your goals.
If you would like to have appointments in Lochgelly, please let us know when you make your referral to the service. It is however possible that there may be a requirement to wait a little longer for appointments in one of our outreach locations compared to our Dunfermline base at The Gatehouse, Dunfermline Business Centre, Izatt Avenue, Dunfermline KY11 3BZ.
