All 1-1 counsellors at Safe Space are trained to Diploma level or above, and have completed the mandatory 4-day trauma training ‘Opening Pandora’s Box’.
Staff and volunteers work to the same standards of professional ethics, including regular specialist training and both individual and group supervision every month.
Group workers come from a variety of backgrounds with different levels of qualifications and experience. They have all completed ‘Opening Pandora’s Box’ training and are expected to attend training and supervision each month.
We take training and supervision very seriously, and require all the independent supervisors who support our service to have experience of therapeutic work with childhood sexual abuse, so that their wisdom will help to develop the insight and understanding that we hope to offer all our clients.
Safe Space’s therapeutic work is accredited by COSCA’s recognition scheme, which is reviewed every year to rigorous standards.

Safe Space is both a registered charity, SC008695, and a company limited by guarantee, SC279327. Its Board of Directors is responsible for the strategic management of the organisation under its constitution, and for compliance with charitable, financial and legal requirements.
Each member of our Board is appointed based on a wide range of their experience, contacts and interests and applications are welcome from anyone with relevant skills and experience to share with the charity.

Directors are asked to attend a brief induction at Safe Space, and regularly attend monthly board meetings which are usually held on a Tuesday evening between 6pm and 8pm.
