Trauma effects us at a level that’s deeper than words. Especially true of childhood sexual abuse. Afterwards, we experience reactions beyond our control –emotions, behaviours, sensations, urges. Disconnected thoughts and overwhelming states. Memories that can be blank, surreal or patchy.
And so it’s hard at times to find the words.
At Safe Space, not all the counselling is about talking–some of it is about finding your voice and your body; using poetry and art; trying out postures by standing and moving; discovering new experiences of who you are now.
As part of your counselling at Safe Space, we offer a unique tool to help with the effect of trauma.
